Group Discussion

After showing the idea that I had come up with to the group we have decided to continue with the idea of incorporating the words into the other elements of the exhibition. Although no other ideas were suggested, there have been areas that have been suggested to make improvements on with the designs from other members of the group. This is something that I will work on individually as well as the other in the promotional design group working on their area. Another aspect that I brought to the group discussion was the change of the exhibition name. Through the feedback it was evident that 'Money Is?' is starting to become a bigger concept that we are exploring. I therefore suggested that we change the exhibition name to this so that the exhibition is a response the question which links to the promotional designs and other design work being completed. 

In the discussion I also highlighted that there are other elements of the exhibition that we need to take into consideration, such as; who are we going to invite, how is the theme going to be carried out throughout the exhibition, is there going to be food and drink, will there be music playing in the exhibition space, etc. The response to these questions were mainly answered in the discussion that we had, however as everyone is working on different briefs and we all have separate schedules, it has been difficult to get together as a whole group, therefore the decisions have had to be made without the full opinion of the group. Although not every member of the group was present for the discussion we have been able to communicate through social media so that nobody is left out of the loop of what is happening, as well as their opinion being easily discussed if there is any issue or contribution to the decisions we have/are making. 

We have decided to incorporate the theme throughout the exhibition space by firstly changing the name to 'Money is?'. This is the first scene of the video and allows for the room of the exhibition to answer the 'question'. When entering the room there will be a small area that outlines the brief behind the work being exhibited. There will also be a section where the traditional print methods used will be explained so that the audience have an understanding of how the designs were printed. As you continue on to the space there will be film quotes printed in vinyl on the windows with the wayfinding printed on the 'air box' that is already located in the room. The video will be displayed at the far end of the room either through a projector or TV screens. This is something that will need to be considered in more detail after we have access to the space as a projector may not be effective if there is too much natural light entering the room. As the room continues round there will be an area to grab a refreshment before you begin the 'wall of artwork'. This is just a brief description which I have written up taking on board the floor plan design of the exhibition that Connell is drawing up.
