Group Meet

Before the first meeting we decided to individually think of and explore a range of themes. This meant that when we met we were able to discuss our ideas and identify the most appropriate. As each of us had individually thought of a sea life theme for the cards, this seemed like an evident theme to progress with. As Emma has already planned a visit to The Deep, Hull this seemed like a successful theme to continue working on and a subject area that we could explore through primary and secondary research. As the discussion continued we then discovered that we are individually passionate about raising awareness of environmental issues. This led to the theme becoming more focused to a specific area, the Great Barrier Reef. This reef is in danger due to Climate Change and coral bleaching. This gives a more educational aspect to the sea life theme that children enjoy and want to learn more about. This is a topic that I have discussed with primary school children and therefore ensures that this is an appropriate theme to continue with.

As well as deciding on an initial theme to start researching and gathering ideas around, we also discussed how we could extend the brief. This discussion focused around alterations to the packaging, an animated aspect to the outcome as well as the 'collectable mechanic'.

The first meet with the group was easily organised due to the similar schedule that we all have on a Thursday. We therefore arranged to have a group calendar and arranged to meet every thursday. We also decided to be open and stay in contact with each other to ensure that we keep to set deadlines and that we are all aware of each stage we are working at.
