Idea Proposals

Idea Proposal 1:

Taking into consideration the brief research that I have carried out and the feedback discussion on the previous two ideas, my third idea brings my research and ideas together.
The aim of the book would be to inform the audience on the shops and restaurants in Tynemouth as well as the unique typography that is used. The main influence being 'The Field Guide to Typography', the book would contain the photographs alongside a description of the business and a short overview of the typeface itself. The publication would also have an element of informing the reader on the typeface in the photograph as it reflects and demonstrates the uniqueness and persona of the town. The book therefore would be a modern take on the 'Tynemouth & Cullercoats Through Time' book, directed towards the audience of young professionals and design students interested in typography rather than focusing on the history of the town.

Purpose - To inform
Audience - Students and young professionals

Idea Proposal 2:

An important comment that was made in the feedback session was that Tynemouth is becoming more of a social scene for students and young professionals in newcastle to visit on a social basis.
As a student you are given a number of leaflets, zines and information sheets on where to go in and around the city that you are in. As Tynemouth is located only a short metro or car drive away from Newcastle city centre it is a prime location for the visitors that it is attracting more and more.
From this the idea was developed of making a handbook for students and young professionals giving them details of the the places to visit in the town. A short description of the shop/restaurant would be accompanied by a photograph of the shop front. The photograph would act as a recognition element and the text would inform the reader on the place itself. As the handbook would be free and widely distributed it would need to be produced with a minimal production cost however still have the durability to be folded or 'shoved' into a person's backpack or handbag.
