Feedback on Ideas

After working through the idea generation process, a feedback discussion was had over the different ideas. The main element that was discussed was which direction to take the solution in. One being a series of posters and the other being a tag that would feature on the bottle when sold in shops.

One of the concerns that I raised was that afternoon tea is typically an event that you 'go out' for. In other terms, it is not something that people typically do for themselves at home. This relates mainly to the tag idea as this would only be appropriate to relate the afternoon tea if it were to be promoted in a way that influenced the audience to hold their own afternoon tea. One way in which this could be done was suggested through the use of the text used in promoting the event. Another discussed idea was that coupling together both ideas together could form an allround campaign that would feature around holding your own afternoon tea events. This could also be coupled with a charity to raise money for a good cause.

Another topic that was discussed is the overall theme that each design might take. As I am wanting bring in my own style of illustration and design into my work, it was suggested that the designs reflect my practise, rather than designing something that is more obvious (for example, photographic images of gin and the ingredients involved in the recipes). Providing the judges with an alternative view in the direction in which this brief could be taken is something that may make the designs stand out against the other competitors. It is also something that other gin brands do not typically do therefore would stand out in competition with others brands.

To conclude the feedback session, it was decided that coupling both ideas together would produce a stronger response to the brief rather than just one. It also shows how the concept can be taken further and the designs are suitable to work across a range of different campaign media.
